Tea tree oil is often used as a primary ingredient in skincare as well as hair care products like shampoos, face creams and face washes. But what makes tea tree oil a perennial favourite in the world of beauty? Actually, this oil, which is extracted after distillation of tea tree leaves, is well-known for its anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-viral, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. That is why, it is wonderful for your hair and skin and is often a one-stop solution for most of your beauty problems.



  1. TO TREAT BLEMISHES: Soak a cotton ball with a few drops of tea tree oil and dab it on your pimples, blemishes and spots. Alternately, add a few drops of tea tree oil to your face wash or face cream while you use them. It is known to work wonders.
  2. TO SOOTHE SKIN: Suffering from itching, irritation or redness? Dabbing the essential oil on the affected area would soothe the skin and offer you relief from irritation.
  3. ACNE TREATMENT: Tea tree oil lessens the production of sebum and helps in fighting the bacteria that gives rise to acne. For an effective acne remedy, mix about 3 drops of tea tree oil with plain yoghurt and honey, one teaspoon each. Apply this mask and leave it on your face for about 20 minutes. Do it regularly for a few weeks to get desired results.
  4. TREAT DRY SKIN: Wish to relive dry skin? Just add a dash of tea tree oil to your regular beauty routine. Mix tea tree oil and almond oil in equal quantities and massage your skin with this mixture. Wait for half an hour and bathe as usual. Skin feels supple and soft.
  5. FOR TREATING VARIOUS SKIN CONDITIONS: Tea tree oil has anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and healing properties that make it an effective remedy for treating a gamut of skin conditions like warts, corns, cuts, rashes, insect bites, wounds and even razor burns. Use it topically and add it to your tub of water while bathing. However, for any kind of skin treatment, make sure that you dilute it with carrier oil like olive or almond as a safety measure.

  1. INDUCE HAIR GROWTH: Tea tree oil is excellent for unclogging hair follicles as well as for nourishing hair roots. Mix a few drops of tea tree oil with coconut oil and massage your scalp with the mixture. This will help to promote growth of hair.
  2. TREAT DANDRUFF: Add a few drops of tea tree oil to your regular shampoo. In fact, it fights off viral and bacterial infections on scalp and hinders the occurrence of scalp infections, flakiness and dandruff.
  3. RELIEVE DRY SCALP: Mix a few drops of tea tree oil with jojoba oil and massage your scalp with the mixture to relieve dryness. Scalp is nourished and every blocked pore is cleared. The natural hydrating properties of tea tree oil helps to relieve dry scalp
  4. TREATS HAIR FALL: Tea tree oil is an excellent remedy for hair thinning problem. By replenishing lost nutrients, tea tree oil strengthens hair shafts and helps to prevent hair fall. Mix a few drops of tea tree oil with a teaspoon of castor oil and massage your scalp with it for an effective hair fall treatment.
  5. FOR HEALTHY HAIR: In a spray bottle, mix equal quantities of water and apple cider vinegar and add a teaspoon of tea tree oil in it. Part your hair and spray the tonic on your hair and scalp. Wear a shower cap and wait for 30 minutes. This treatment helps treat damaged hair and infuse your hair with the much needed nutrients. Now, add a few drops of tea tree oil to your regular shampoo and wash your hair clean. After this, use a healthy protein mask for hair using egg and yoghurt to get healthy and shiny hair. You must however remember to dilute it with your favourite carrier oil to avoid any unwanted problem. Invest in a bottle of tea tree oil and reap the best beauty benefits it has to offer.
