VLCC Skin Tightening Facial Kit (Salon Series): Review

BY SOMREETA MUKHERJEE

I feel VLCC has made facial sessions a piece of cake with their easy-to-use DIY facial kits. I have tried the Gold Facial Kit as well as their Diamond Facial kit and I loved them. Recently I tried out VLCC Skin Tightening Facial Kit (Salon Series) and I am going to review it in this post today.

WHAT THE WEBSITE CLAIMS?

“PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This specially prepared VLCC Skin Tightening Facial Kit is based on age old Ayurvedic recipes which have been developed for specific treatment by using latest scientific production techniques.

This kit contains 5 sachets each of Indian Berberry Face Scrub,  Lime Massage Gel, Wheat Skin Tightening Cream, Geranium Face Pack,  plus one vial of Vitalift.

Use one sachet of each product and  a few drops of Vita Lift in the  Lime Massage Gel for a single facial.”

MY EXPERIENCE WITH VLCC SKIN TIGHTENING FACIAL KIT (SALON SERIES)

  • Indian Berberry Scrub:

This thick scrub contains tiny, somewhat coarse, granules that help exfoliate the skin. It is mild on the skin and a massage with this scrub for 5 minutes is enough to slough off dead skin cells and reveal smooth skin.

  • Lime Massage Gel:

This blue-coloured soothing gel has an unusual fragrance- somewhat like Park Avenue After-Shave Lotion or Nivea For Men Shower Gel. I added a few drops of Vitalift Skin Lifting Serum to the gel and massaged my face for 7 to 8 minutes. Skin felt soothed and rejuvenated. I could see my skin glow.
  • Vitalift Skin Lifting Serum:

This serum acts as a wonderful accompaniment in this facial kit. When a few drops of this liquid is added to the gel, massage becomes a cakewalk.
  • Wheat Skin Tightening Cream:

This nourishing cream is yellow in colour and looks like a turmeric cream, thick in texture but easy to apply. However, I couldn’t figure out any significant mention of turmeric in the list of ingredients. Skin felt soft and well-hydrated after massaging my face with it.
  • Geranium Face Pack:

This face pack comes in powder form, white in colour. It needs to be combined with VLCC rosewater to make a paste. However, I found this process of making the paste tiring. It acts like talcum powder being mixed with water and takes a long time (and patience too) to make a smooth paste. I applied a thin paste generously all over my face and neck, it dried up in 15 minutes. I washed my face and followed up with a serum that was readily available with me. However, the ‘directions to us’ mentioned in the kit makes special mention of VLCC lotion for effective completion of this treatment.

Results: Skin felt clean and hydrated. The glow imparted was subtle but didn’t last long. I couldn’t see any significant skin-tightening effect (I am 32 years old).
VLCC SKIN TIGHTENING FACIAL KIT (SALON SERIES): PROS

  • Reasonably priced at Rs 600 for 5 facial sessions (5 sachets of 10 g, each)
  • Although it says 5 facial sessions, the contents of each sachet can be easily used twice, which unofficially amounts to 10 facial sessions!
  • The scrub is effective, the gel is soothing, the cream is good for a massage and the face pack is decent too- so, in short, quality is good
  • Contains natural ingredients
  • Comes in a zip-pouch that’s handy and can be used to store the sachets.
  • All instructions are provided with the kit, making it easy to follow the steps.

VLCC SKIN TIGHTENING FACIAL KIT (SALON SERIES): CONS

  • They have mentioned a ‘cleanser and toner’ and also a ‘moisturiser’ in the website for HOW TO USE However, there is no cleanser/toner/moisturiser provided in the kit.
  • There is a mention of VLCC rosewater for preparing the face pack and VLCC lotion post face-pack for effective completion of the treatment. I feel small sachets of such products should be provided if mention of the same are made in the kit. Frankly I didn’t have VLCC rosewater and VLCC lotion available at home while doing this treatment.
  • There is no mention of Vitalift Serum in the HOW TO USE section of website
  • NO significant change in the way skin looks or feels (Twice a month sessions for 3 months is recommended. I must mention here that I have not gone for 6 sessions before reviewing the kit)
  • Storage of leftover products is problematic

FINAL WORD

An average facial kit from the house of VLCC, VLCC Skin Tightening Facial Kit (Salon Series) is budget-friendly and good for use if you are in your late twenties, early thirties. I have used other variants of VLCC facial kits and liked them more than this one. Rating would be 3.75 out of 5.
