Homemade Treatments For Dry And Dull Hair

When your hair shafts cannot retain sufficient moisture content, they appear dry, brittle and dull. Dry hair is a natural outcome of lack of proper hair care regimen and poor dietary habits. Here are three homemade treatments that will help you treat dry hair easily without having to resort to the use of chemicals, check them out:

  • GELATIN TREATMENT:
    Mix a tbsp gelatin in a cup of warm water and set it aside for five minutes. When the consistency is somewhat gel-like, add a tsp ACV and a few drops of clary sage essential oil. You may also add a few drops of lavender oil. Work it in through shampooed scalp and hair. Leave it on for 10 minutes and then wash off with lukewarm water. Do it once every week for best results.
  • HOT OIL TREATMENT:
    Hot oil treatment is a wonderful way to fortify dry hair and restore shine and moisture to the hair shafts naturally. Add a tbsp dried rosemary, a tbsp dried burdock and another tsp dried sage to ½ cup olive oil. Heat the mixture in a pan on low flame for 20 minutes. Strain and let it cool. Saturate your scalp and hair with this oil and massage gently. Cover your hair with a hot and wet towel from which you have squeezed out excess liquid. Allow the goodness of this herbal oil infuse into your hair shafts for the next 15 minutes. Shampoo as usual. Do this treatment twice every week.
  • DEEP CONDITIONING TREATMENT:

    Apply a thick layer of mayonnaise on wet hair and scalp. Cover your hair with a plastic shower cap and wait for half-an-hour. Shampoo and rinse as usual. Do it once every week to treat dry hair effectively. Mayonnaise has nourishing oils and amino acids that provide deep conditioning to your hair.
