Kolkata Street Art Festival: An Initiative By Berger Paints

How would it be to see your beloved City of Joy all decked up and colourful? How would it be to see the walls of your city filled with beautiful street art? That is what Berger paints India is unto:Making our beloved kolkata even more beautiful.Kolkata street art festival is all about it.

Street art is happening all around the globe and is a way for young talents to showcase their art.Berger paints India took in the effort to start street art festival in Kolkata with the permission of Kolkata municipal corporation to paint certain significant walls in the city. The initiative has been mentored by eminent artist and member of parliament Jogen Chowdhury and a team of young a talented artists worked under eminent artists Mr Barun Saha and Mr Rintu Roy to make this project happen.

Berger paints decided to take up this noble initiative for not just the beautification of the city but also to give recognition to some very talented and budding artists from our very own city. The entire project took a great of hardwork, from getting permissions to fighting all odds to paint the walls amidst all the hustle bustle, but i must say the outcome is fantastic.Berger paints has also decided to paint a couple of metro stations and also a tram, and we are eagerly waiting for that.

On a rather not so gloomy day we city bloggers were invited at the Berger house and we were taken on a trip to see and know more about the walls by ourselves. We all reached the berger house and after a small briefing about the entire project it was time for us to place tourist in our own city and how much we loved it.We covered 5 destinations~Eden Gardens,Exide Crossing,Ballygunje Tram Depot,Topsia and Park Circus 7 Point Crossing. Now coming to the art that the painters have created is quite different from usual street graffiti. The paintings are made with an element of our own culture in it and is a beautiful amalgamation of modern and vintage. The paintings in various localities speak of that place ,like in Eden Gardens the walls were about various sports, the walls and Exide had a vintage feel to it and was everyones favourite. We bloggers also had a talk with the artists and their though behind creating these beautiful paintings.

This initiative by Berger paints is truly one of its kind and is one of the best gift to the city before all the festivities.Anybody who would walk past these walls will definitely take a minute or two to acknowledge it.Berger has started this initiative and we should all unite together to maintain these walls and help our beloved “Tillotama kolkata” look bright and beautiful.
