Ten Bollywood Films Showcasing Paris


Bollywood’s love affair with the picturesque location of Paris, however, goes back a long way. Here are 10 films memorably shot in Paris:

Sangam (1964)

This Raj Kapoor-produced and directed love triangle is remembered even today for its use of foreign locales such as Venice, Switzerland and yes, Paris. This film is virtually responsible for starting the trend of shooting song sequences abroad.

An Evening in Paris (1967)

Director Shakti Samanta shot his romantic drama in Paris at a time when outdoor locations were a rare sight in Hindi cinema, going to the extent of making sure the Eiffel Tower played an important role in the climax.

Hero No. 1 (1997)

David Dhawan’s comedy drama was shot in several European locations, including Paris. This Govinda and Karisma Kapoor-starrer was a runaway box-office hit.

Don (2006)

Farhan Akhtar also shot portions of his action thriller, a remake of the 1978 Amitabh Bachchan hit, in Champs Elysées, Paris known for its theatres, cafés and luxury shops.

Jhoom Barabar Jhoom (2007)

One half of the love quadrangle featuring actors Abhishek Bachchan and Lara Dutta unfolds in Esplanade du Trocadéro, Paris in the Shaad Ali directed film. Also featuring Preity Zinta and Bobby Deol in pivotal roles, the Yash Raj Films showcased the wide esplanade that leaves an open view from the place du Trocadéroto the Eiffel Tower and beyond.

MP3- Mera Pehla Pehla Pyar (2007)

Director Robby Grewal’s school romance revolved around a young boy sneaking to Paris to win back his love. The film starred Ruslaan Mumtaz and Hazel Crowney in lead roles.

London, Paris, New York (2012)

As the title suggests, one-third of the romantic comedy directed by Anu Menon was set in the French city. The film that starred Ali Zafar and Aditi Rao Hydari in lead roles.

Ishkq in Paris (2013)

Actor Preity Zinta’s first production venture was a whirlwind romance set in Europe directed by Prem Raj. It starred her in the lead role along with newcomer Rhehan Malliek. Much of the film was shot in France (mainly in Paris and Lyon)

Queen (2014)

Vikas Bahl’s coming-of-age comedy drama revolved around a young Punjabi girl who discovers herself on a solo trip to Paris and Amsterdam after her wedding is called off. The famous Paris Love Padlock location was featured in the film.

Befikre (2016)

In this film directed by Aditya Chopra and starring Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor, Paris is exquisitely captured. From the Eiffel Tower to the Pont Des Arts, popularly known as the Bridge of Love Locks, Paris shines marvelously in Befikre.
