Chilli Paneer (Pure Veg): Recipe


For the first time I tried out a no-onion, no-garlic Chilli Paneer recipe that is easy to make with the readily available ingredients at home on any normal day. Check it out!


  • Paneer (cut in cubes): 250 g
  • Ginger (shredded)- 1 tablespoon
  • Capsicum: 2 (sliced)
  • Carrot: 1 (sliced)- optional
  • Tomato: 1
  • Slit green chillies: 4-5
  • Black pepper powder: 1 tablespoon
  • Soy sauce: 1 tablespoon
  • Vinegar: 1 tablespoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Sugar: 1 teaspoon
  • Cornflour: 2 teaspoons
  • Cooking oil: 3 tablespoons
  • Butter: 1 teaspoon
  • Water: 1.5 cups



Cooking time: 25 minutes

  • Heat cooking oil and butter together in a non-stick pan and fry the paneer cubes lightly for 2-3 minutes.
  • Set the paneer aside.
  • Add shredded ginger to the oil for a few seconds.
  • Add sliced capsicums and slit green chillies; stir fry for another couple of minutes.
  • Now put the paneer cubes as well as the carrots in the pan and add sliced tomato.
  • Put black pepper powder, salt, sugar, soy sauce and vinegar and stir fry for about 5 minutes.
  • Add water and cook for 10-15 minutes.
  • Add cornflour and wait for the gravy to turn thick.
  • Serve hot with noodles or fried rice.


So, the easiest ‘Chinese’ recipe (read Homemade Indian version of Chinese) is ready to be savoured. This is the perfect vegetarian recipe that will make your taste buds crave for more. Enjoy!


P.S. This Indo-Chinese recipe is recreated to suit the no-onion, no-garlic vegetarian type recipe. Even spring onions are not used.
