Styling Indian Jewellery With Western Outfit: Part 2

So what do you guys think of kundan jewellery?I personally find them really royal and majestic.I would love to wear a heavy kundan neckpiece and earring for my best friends sangeet, but wearing a kundan neckpiece on a daily basis is just impossible.Right? No not right. It used to break my heart to see my ever so royal and beautiful kundan neckpiece wrapped with care and kept in my closet for ages. And thus i decided to style it with a regular wear modern, comfortable and western outfit.

Kundan is a traditional form of Indian gemstone jewellery involving a gem set with gold foil between the stones and its mount, usually for elaborate necklaces. The method is believed to have originated in the royal courts of Rajasthan and Gujarat. It is one of the older forms of jewellery made and worn in India.[1][2] The word kundan means highly refined gold, and a highly refined and pure form of molten gold is used.

Kundan, also known as Bikaneri or Jaipuri jewellery, is a popular variation, wherein enameling with vivid colours and designs is on the reverse, while the kundan setting is in the front. The city of Jaipur in Rajasthan has traditionally been the centre for Kundan jewellery in India.Kundan flourished under royal patronage during the Mughal era. Over the years, the Kundan jewellery of the courts was successfully copied in silver in Rajasthan, Bihar and the Punjab and became popular with the common man.

My neckpiece was a gold and red combination and had a royal touch to it.Initially i was very confused on what to pair it with.As anything too much would make the look really clumsy. So i decided to play on a plain canvas and let the neckpiece do all the talking. And hence i opted for a white shirt and white trousers and finally put on my ever-so-loved Kundan neckpiece and it instantly glammed up my look.I put my hair on a top bun hence letting all attention fall on the neckpiece.

I must say kundans are just not for wedding but also for random parties with your friends.Right?
