Methi Paneer In Yoghurt Gravy: Recipe

Cooking paneer with fenugreek leaves and yoghurt is easy. Methi paneer recipe is a great way to add fenugreek to your meals because it is rich in micronutrients like vitamins and minerals. Kasuri methi is a good source of protein as well. Using dried fenugreek leaves for your paneer recipe imparts a delicious flavour which is exclusively Indian. Try out this amazing Indian dish and add variety to your paneer preparation without having to put up with any hassle!

Methi Paneer (Milk curd cheese cooked with fenugreek leaves in yoghurt gravy)

Preparation time- 5 minutes

Cooking time- 30 minutes

Total time required- 35 minutes


Ingredients

  1. Fresh paneer (cut in small cubes)-250 grams
  2. Kasuri methi or dried fenugreek leaves- 4 tablespoons
  3. Yoghurt- 200 grams
  4. Onions- 3 (medium sized)
  5. Tomato- 1
  6. Garlic (shredded- 2 tablespoons
  7. Ginger (shredded- 2 tablespoons)
  8. Turmeric- ½ teaspoon
  9. Red chilli powder- 1tablespoon
  10. Salt to taste
  11. Sugar- 2 teaspoons
  12. Cooking oil
  13. Drinking water- 100 ml

 

Instructions

  1. Put the onions and tomatoes in a blender and puree them. Set them aside.
  2. In a kadhai, heat cooking oil and frizzle the shredded ginger and garlic.
  3. After about a minute, pour the onion and tomato puree into the oil and sauté for around three or four minutes on medium flame.
  4. Add yoghurt, salt, sugar, turmeric and red chilli powder. Sprinkle the dried fenugreek leaves or kasuri methi and stir well for about two minutes.
  5. Add drinking water and the paneer
  6. Once the gravy starts simmering, cover and cook for about fifteen to twenty minutes on low flame. As soon as the gravy starts thickening, stir occasionally.
  7. Turn off the flame when the gravy tends to stick on the paneer cubes, which are tender yet unbroken.
  8. Serve it hot with roti, naan or paratha.
