Tea Tree Oil


Tea tree oil is known for its anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. Add a few drops of tea tree oil in a tbsp. olive oil and massage your scalp gently with the concoction. Whenever you shampoo your hair, add a few drops of tea tree oil to your regular shampoo. This remedy is excellent for treating itchy scalp.

 

Aloe Vera Gel

Apply freshly extracted aloe vera gel on scalp. Aloe vera has natural soothing properties that help relieve itchy scalp.

 

Lemon Juice

An excellent remedy for dandruff and scalp itch, lemon juice can be your savior in the true sense. Apply diluted lemon juice on scalp and let its antiseptic properties work wonders. For a nourishing mask that combats itchiness of scalp, mix 4 tbsp yoghurt with the juice of a lemon. Itchiness disappears within a week.

 

Apple Cider Vinegar

ACV has anti-inflammatory properties that effectively fight virus and yeast that could be the cause behind your itchy scalp. Massage your hair and scalp with diluted ACV and use the ACV rinse after shampooing your hair. This remedy should be followed twice a week.

 

Sesame Seed Oil

Apply a concoction of warm sesame seed oil and few drops of lavender oil on scalp and hair. Leave it on overnight and if possible, wear a shower cap to bed. Wash off with a mild shampoo next day. This remedy is beneficial if your itchy scalp is a result of dryness.

 

Home remedies can be really helpful in treating itchy scalp. However, if the symptoms persist, it is better to see a physician. Also look out for symptoms of scalp psoriasis if the itchiness is really bad!
