KALIGHAT KALI TEMPLE

Legend says that the toe of Sati fell at this place during the ‘Rudra Tandava’ of Lord Shiva and is hence venerated as one of the 51 ‘Shakti Peethas’ in India. The temple, situated at Kalighat, is one of the top haunts of pilgrims all over India and the world. You may visit this temple dedicated to Goddess Kali any time of the day between 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.

DAKSHINESWAR KALI TEMPLE

Situated by the eastern banks of the river Hoogly in Dakshineswar, this temple dedicated to the worship of Maa Bhavatarini (Goddess Kali) was built by Rani Rashmoni in the mid-19th Century. The temple is associated with Shri Ramakrishna where he spent a major part of his life. The complex of the temple consists of the main temple with 9 spires, a huge courtyard, 12 shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva and also a temple where Radha-Krishna are worshipped.

BELUR MATH

Located along the Western banks of river Hoogly in the district of Howrah, Belur Math is also the headquarters of Ramakrishna Mission and Ramakrishna Math. The sprawling compound spread over 40 acres of land, Belur Math is famous for its Ramakrihna temple which was built in 1898-1899 by Swami Vivekananda. There are temples dedicated to Ma Sarada Devi, Swami Brahmananda and Swami Vivekananda as well. The temple is known for its evening prayers and the peaceful atmosphere that prevails.

BIRLA MANDIR

Situated in Ballygunge area, Birla Mandir is a stunning white marble architecture known for its marvellous designs and aesthetic environment. Birla Temple is also known as Laxmi Narayan Temple and houses idols of Radha and Krishna along with Shiva and Durga. This temple attracts several pilgrims throughout the day from 5.30 a.m. to 11 a.m. and then from 4.30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

PARENSHNATH JAIN TEMPLE

The Parenshnath Jain Temple is a holy shrine for the Jains in Kolkata. The interiors of this marvellous construction are lavishly adorned with colourful stones as well as mirrors. The Temple compound has a lush green garden and four different temples of Sri Sital Nath Ji, Dadaji Guru, Prabhujidev and Mahavira.
