FIVE TIPS FOR PREVENTING ACNE

Acne-Friendly Products

1.USE ACNE-FRIENDLY PRODUCTS ON SKIN

Choosing the right kind of skincare products as well as makeup is very important. ‘NON-COMEDOGENIC’ is the word! Check the label and invest in such products that are non-comedogenic to make sure that the pores aren’t clogged. Opt for acne-friendly, light, oil-free products. Avoid greasy and heavy products because they will eventually clog the pores and spur acne as well as pimples.

2.CLEANSE AND EXFOLIATE

To keep acne at bay, it is very important to wash your face with water frequently to ensure that dirt, sweat and oil are removed from the surface of the skin. Deep cleanse your skin twice daily using non-comedogenic cleansers. Exfoliating your skin gently using mild face scrubs work wonders. However, it is better to exfoliate your skin once a week. A proper routine of cleansing and exfoliating goes a long way in preventing acne. If you feel you need to follow up with a moisturiser, opt for a mild non-comedogenic one. You may also look for ingredients like glycolic acid, salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide in your face wash and scrubs to help curb acne causing bacteria.

3.MAINTAIN CLEAN PILLOW COVERS

Did you know that changing your pillow cover could be a wonderful way to keep acne away? Sleeping on the same pillow cover exposes your skin to dirt, sweat, oil and debris that accumulate on it over time. This in turn feeds on your tendency to get acne. If you are lazy enough to think that changing pillow covers can be a huge task, realise this- it is not at all hygienic to plant your face into an accumulation of sweat and grease for eight hours, daily.

4.YOUR HAIR CARE PRODUCTS ARE IMPORTANT TOO!

If you are facing tough times with acne, refrain from using oils, gels and pomades on your hair. In fact, these products tend to seep down to your face and block the pores. Even if you are using oil to nourish your hair, pull it away from your face and don’t go for overnight oil treatments. Oil your hair and then wash it using gentle shampoo and conditioner after an hour or so.

Eat Healthy

5.DEVELOP THE HABIT OF EATING HEALTHY

Incorporate sufficient fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains in your daily diet. Stay away from oily food, processed food and junk food items as much as possible. Aim to incorporate beta-carotenes by opting to crunch on carrots, bell peppers and sweet potatoes.Add lots of vitamin C to your diet in the form of tomatoes, melons and oranges. Get your dose of omega-3 fatty acids by having salmon, sardines, walnuts and flaxseeds. Drink plenty of water to flush the internal toxins out.

By following these easy tips, you can surely keep acne at bay. It is also desired that you should get adequate sleep, keep stress away, exercise everyday and maintain a healthy lifestyle to get healthy skin, sans break outs and acne.
