CHILLI RED PEPPER CHICKEN
Total time required: 35-40 minutes
LIST OF INGREDIENTS
- Chicken pieces- 500 grams
- Ginger (shredded): 1 tablespoon
- Garlic (shredded): 1tablespoon
- Onions- 2 (roughly chopped)
- Red bell pepper/capsicum: 1 (large)
- Slit green chilli: 2-3 (you may add more if you want it extra hot)
- Green chilli sauce: 4 tablespoons
- Tomato- 1 (pureed)
- Soy sauce: 3 tablespoons
- Vinegar: 3 tablespoons
- Black pepper powder: 2-3 tablespoons
- Corn flour: 4-5 teaspoons
- Egg: 1
- Salt to taste
- Cooking oil
- Drinking water
INSTRUCTIONS
- Make a batter of egg and corn flour. Add a pinch of salt and pour the pieces of chicken into it. Heat adequate cooking oil in a kadhai and fry the chicken pieces into pakoras. Set the pakoras aside and do away with the excess oil.
- In the same kadhai, heat a tablespoon of oil and stir fry the shredded garlic.
- Fry the ginger shreds and onions too.
- Add pureed tomato, chilli sauce, soy sauce, vinegar and green chillies. Sauté.
- Add the bell peppers (cut into thin strips) and add the pieces of fried chicken. Sauté for a couple of minutes and then, add drinking water.
- Add salt as well as black pepper powder.
- Cover and cook for about fifteen minutes. This helps in softening the chicken pieces. Do away with the lid and let it simmer to do away with extra water content.
- Turn off the flame as soon as you see that the chicken is succulent and water content is reduced as per requirement.
- Serve it hot with hakka noodles or mixed fried rice.
