My take on NYX Matte Lipstick Indie Flick:

The packaging is adorable though a little flimsy but I like it considering the price. It comes in a black plastic tube with a transparent band in between that reveals the shade of the lipstick. It is quite easy to spot it when I have to dig through my vanity, as I own a couple of these babies now. The shade is mentioned on a sticker placed at the bottom of the tube.

Color: Neon orange in shade which is not meant for the faint hearted.  It is a “Statement” color, which would look good if you team it up with a monochrome outfit. I usually like bold colors but Indie Flick is way too neon for my taste.  It makes my skin appear ghastly so I need to mix it up with a different color to make it more wearable. If you are into such traffic stopping shade, you will surely like it.

Texture: Though the color is fun, the texture gets a wee patchy after applying it. It does have a creamy formula which doesn’t dry out my lips but an exfoliation is required and a lip balm prior application. I didn’t like the patchiness at all. It accentuates every little fine lines if you suffer from dry lips but it may work well on well-hydrated lips.

Pigmentation: NYX are known for their superb pigmentation so yeah! Justice was done and BAM! It is completely opaque in a single swipe. The color is a bright neon orange so I had my sunglasses on while swiping. *lol* Just kidding!

Staying power: Since it is a matte lipstick, it lasted for 4 to 5 hours on me along with snacks and drink. It won’t survive a heavy meal though as it tends to fade unevenly so a reapplication is required.

 The good things:

Creamy texture

Awesome color payoff

The bad things:

Neon color (Indie flick is too bold for me)

It won’t flatter a lot of Indian skin tones

Patchy

Need exfoliation prior application

Rating: 2/5 (for the pigmentation)

Recommendation: No. I won’t be repurchasing.
