SIMPLE AND DELICIOUS OIL-FREE CHICKEN RECIPE

Wish to cook delicious chicken sans oil? If it sounds too good to be true, let me tell you that it is possible to cook this succulent chicken recipe in a jiffy with little hassle involved. So, get your blender, microwave-safe pot and microwave ready to prepare this amazingly easy and delectable chicken in a matter of twenty minutes!

SIMPLE AND DELICIOUS OIL-FREE CHICKEN RECIPE

PREPARATION TIME: 10 minutes

COOKING TIME: 20 minutes

 

LIST OF INGREDIENTS:

  • Chicken (cut in small pieces): 500 g
  • Onions: 2-3
  • Garlic: 12-13 cloves
  • Ginger: 1-inch piece
  • Tomatoes: 2
  • Curd/yoghurt: 7-8 tablespoons
  • Turmeric powder: ½ teaspoon
  • Red chilli powder: ½ teaspoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper powder: 1 teaspoon
  • Green chillies: 2-3
  • Cardamoms: 4-5 pods
  • Cloves: 4-5 sticks
  • Sugar (optional):1 teaspoon

 

 

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Clean the chicken pieces thoroughly and place them in a microwave-safe pot.

  • Puree the tomatoes, onions and green chillies in a blender and pour the thick concoction over the pieces of chicken. Add yogurt as well.

  • Make a paste of ginger and garlic. Add the paste to the chicken pieces.

  • Now, mix the ingredients properly. Sprinkle turmeric powder, red chilli powder, black pepper powder, salt and sugar (optional) on the mixture and stir well with the help of a spoon.

  • Add cardamoms and cloves. Seal the lid of the microwave-safe pot.
  • Put it in the microwave and select the ‘microwave’ option to around 600-750W. Set the time at 20 minutes.
  • Cook the chicken in microwave for 20 minutes.

  • Garnish it with a few red chillies and bell peppers slit into thin wedges and then, serve this luscious chicken with roti, paratha or kulcha.

ADDITIONAL TIPS

Keep the following pointers in mind while you cook this tasty oil-free chicken recipe:

  • The recipe works really well for boneless chicken pieces.
  • Make sure that the pot is large enough because curd, tomato and onion together tend to whip up quite a lot of gravy.
  • If you wish to keep it tangy and sour, refrain from adding sugar. However, a teaspoon of sugar added to the recipe tends to even out the taste and make it savoury for everyone.
  • If you wish to make it less hot and spicy, you may reduce the quantity of green chillies, chilli powder and black pepper powder, as per requirement.
